DROWNED BY DARKNESS

Female Fronted Heavy Alternative Metal from Germany. The music of Drowned by Darkness is not bound by genre-specific constraints. An explosive mixture of influences and styles, which are often marked by contrasts, give the music its edgy character and makes Drowned by Darkness a very unique and eclectic sound experience. The musical foundation of the band is based on heavy- and thrash metal of the 1980s combined with modern styles such as metalcore or alternative metal. The contrast between the outstanding voice of singer Ela, which alternates between clean and guttural vocals and the backing vocals of guitarist Lars contribute greatly to this varied metal project. With this very unique style, the band wants to further establish their brand of metal outside the scene to appeal to people with wider musical tastes.
At the end of 2009 guitarists Michael and Lars had the idea to form a band that was completely different to what their contemporaries were doing musically at the time.
The project was put on hold until they found Kevin Moeller who took on the role of drummer
Ela Hörold, a motivated, young and talented singer joined in March 2011 and the band’s line-up was almost complete bringing the initial ideas of Lars and Michael closer to fruition . They wasted no time and started writing songs straight away.
Their first demo “Toxic Blood” was released in June 2011 Martin Stegmaier completed the band as bass player after he had left his former band project. Soon, first gigs in local clubs were played and the band established itself in the local metal scene. In September 2012, the band won a newcomer contest, which was a great achievement.
Following the win the band focused all their energy on songwriting and live performance, playing at some major events opening for bands like FUCK , The Mystery and The Sorrow . After a long and intense period of recording, the five-piece released their debut album "Craving for Redemption" on the 5th December 2013. On the 13th December Drowned by Darkness played as the opening act for Eskimo Callboy and Deadlock which is surely a sign that the band on the road to greatness.
